Lucie is a Hull mum who is training with Source Solutions to turn her high hopes for the future into a reality. She was laid off from her job in a hotel during lockdown and was motivated to refocus on improving her lot and attaining her dream. That’s why she is studying to improve her English with us, as well as taking other courses including first aid, health and safety, and her Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card qualification.
Lucie: Before lockdown, I was working and I lost the job. I’ve been at home for over one year and I’ve been thinking about the future. Then I found Source Solutions and studied there.
Now I’m back working part-time because I’m a single mum of a son of 7 years. When he grows up, I want to have a better career and a better job so I’m doing all the courses I can.
Although Lucie was hit hard by lockdown, she now has a plan and is working hard to realise it with Source Solutions.
Lucie: I want to get better English and maybe look for a degree. Maybe I can go to university in the future because my son is growing up and I don’t want to be stuck in one place. A couple of years ago, I was a manager in a flower factory. So, I want to continue and maybe study management and get into something like that again. I’ve got lots of experience with that.
I’m very happy with Source Solutions because all the teachers are very helpful, as I’m foreign and my English is not perfect. When there’s a question and a word that I don’t know what it means, they explain everything to me. It’s very helpful. before I was going to college for a year and I didn’t get anything from them except ‘Oh, you must do it like this. You must do it like this’. On the other hand, Source Solutions explain everything to me very, very well.
Lucie has an English exam coming up soon, but she feels confident about it and is looking forward to staying on afterward.
Lucie: I’m doing well and Sally, my teacher, is brilliant. She prepared me for everything. If I struggled with something, she explained everything to me. I really feel comfortable there and when I come, she has time for me, so it’s really helpful. If I have problems with words, I always ask and she’s sitting with me and [the training centre] really is a great place.
I spoke to her because I want to continue and she said yes, I can continue at the end of August and into September.
We’ll be more than happy to see more of Lucie because it looks like Source Solutions has a new number one promoter.
Lucie: To all my friends I say look, if you’re looking to learn English, go to Source Solutions because they are fantastic. I recommend them to all my friends.
I don’t know how many months I’ve been going now but I’m very, very glad. When I’m working, People say ‘Oh, you’re studying and working and I say, ‘Yes because I want to do something for myself.’ And I say ‘Well, if you need to learn English or something, I can ask Source Solutions for you’.
We asked her if she thinks the qualifications she is gaining now will help her a lot in the future.
Lucie: They’ll help me build my cv, definitely. When I start searching for a better job – a qualification is always good. When I came to the UK, no other qualification was good for me because you couldn’t even get onto courses, so I’m seeing that Source Solution’s course is hugely useful.
